1. The axis that actually separates these devices: depth and delivery
Brand names are the loudest part of a lifting menu and the least informative. Underneath them sit two engineering choices: how deep the energy is aimed, and whether it is concentrated into points or spread through a volume.
Focused ultrasound at set depths. Microfocused ultrasound with visualization (MFU-V) — the technology behind Ultherapy — targets collagen-rich structures "at depths of 1.5, 3.0, and 4.5 mm," which correspond broadly to the superficial dermis, the reticular dermis, and the SMAS and subdermal layer. - Who operates the device? Technique and patient selection matter at least as much as the brand on the machine.

5. The limits, stated plainly
Energy-based lifting generally produces gradual firming that builds over weeks to months rather than an immediate change, and it is not permanent — maintenance sessions are common. Side effects are possible: temporary redness, swelling and tenderness are the usual ones, and improper application can cause more lasting effects, which is again why the operator matters. These treatments are not without risk, and they are not a substitute for surgery when the underlying problem is substantial excess skin.
